Website and business owners are inundated with emails these days for SEO services. Business owners are receiving phone calls and invoices out of the blue for SEO services. Companies are offering services that can guarantee sales and traffic to your website for just pennies on the dollar invested, but none of them go into what their SEO service really entails or what their SEO services cover.
Let's try to explain this by providing some SEO examples and services of SEO professionals. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the service of web page optimization to boost search engine rank. The goal of SEO is to provide your site with the maximum amount of exposure (high rankings) on the search engines to your customers. In hopes that more people visit your site and you will have more customers. There are many basic levels of SEO service and your SEO service provider should offer all of them plus more:
These are typically simple services that are evaluated for free by many SEO service providers. SEO service professionals will check your site for 301 referrals, directory listings, search engine submissions, meta tags, Robots.txt file inclusion, sitemap inclusion, domain information, etc... There are many websites that automate this evaluation service and are available to the general public as well as other SEO service providers.
These SEO services might require knowledgeablele designer or developer if the SEO professional doesn't offer those services. This optimization service would focus on how the web site structure itself provides information to the search engines. Many web sites are graphically pleasing, but the search engine bots don't look at the graphics, nor can they follow some types of navigation systems. SEO services could include HTML, XHTML, CSS validation and correction, possible navigation changes, internal link additions, graphical reductions, or even template changes to provide better content exposure.
These SEO services should include keyword research to help build a relevant keyword portfolio to target. This research can provide some specific keywords for you to target that are more likely to give your web site exposure to customers. This SEO service can also help to determine how your customers are searching for you on the web, and it can also provide details into how your business is perceived on the web. Using the results from this research, an SEO service can recommend the best keywords to use on your site.
Every page on your site is a landing page. Professional SEO service providers will evaluate each page on your web site including store and other dynamic pages. SEO services might include textual changes to provide more keyword rich content on a page, keyword targeting so your site may be found under a variety of search phrases, help you build conversion paths that end in a sale, or landing page additions for new keywords identified in keyword optimization.
SEO services usually include directory submission of your site to all the major directories applicable. If you've signed up for extended SEO services, SEO providers will also find as many industrial directories as possible to submit your web site to. These directories provide you with back-links that can boost your page rank. Links should also be focused on over time as those also build your page rank and help to promote your products and services. Social media can be a focal point for back-links created within blogs, forums, or social networks, but don't be fooled by a 'social media only' SEO campaign.
Most SEO services include some type of tracking for extended service contracts. These SEO service providers will install Google Analytics or another type of analytics software to track the progress of your web site. It can take months before the full result of their efforts is reflected by increased traffic. While most SEO experts cannot provide guarantees of getting your site to the top of the search engine rankings, full service providers will almost always provide successful results of giving you more exposure to the search engines.
There are many other services and techniques that an SEO professional might use to provide results, but these basic services should explain some of what SEO services are and what they can do for you. Next, I'll try to explain the difference between SEO and SEM for the SERPS...

SEO is different to different SEO managers, that's why there are so many definitions. I've read that some SEO managers will only submit to Google, where others will cater to thousands of search engines through automated means. I read an article recently about how traditional SEO is dead and has now been completely replaced by social media marketing. 2.0 vs 1.0 SEO. etc... Since SEO managers are competitive, I don't think anyone can produce a definition that clearly explains the methods, however I'll stand by my definition from a website owners persepective of attempting to boost site traffic by attaining high relevancy search engine rankings.

Okay, so what can a manufacturing business do to prevent catastrophic failure in the current economy? Most are tightening belts and budgets to reflect lower sales and profits. Many are looking toward Lean or other manufacturing technology that will save resources, equipment, and time to save money overall. Some manufacturing companies are trying to differentiate by utilizing the equipment and resources they currently have in new markets. Others are simply closing their doors.
As you slash your advertising budgets and reduce marketing staff, where will new customers come from? Can you rely on manufacturing trade organizations full of other businesses who are in the same sinking ship? Are business directories able to share your complete manufacturing expertise to potential customers? Are your traditional forms of advertising getting out to new potential customers? What has your website done for you lately?
This is a landing page - or at least an example of a landing page if it doesn't rank well. The concept of using a landing page in SEO terms isn't new, but still provides an excellent way for you to capture leads from the search engines.
Essentially, a landing page is one page on your web site optimized for just a few specific keywords. In this case, we're using 'landing page' as our main keywords and we'll try to focus on a couple other keywords to capture leads on the long-tail searches as well. Landing pages are sometimes referred to as 'lead capture pages' for the obvious reason that they are intended to capture leads.
Landing pages are used to grab leads from the search engines through excellent ranking on specific keywords. Not every page on your site can be optimized for your preferred keywords. This is what has made landing pages such a successful strategy.
